For a great time come to Kirkland Lake & District, the snowmobiling hub of the north for some of the best sledding around!
Snow Mobile Trails:
Come to the snowmobiling hub of the north for some of the best sledding there is! The Golden Corridor Snowdrifters maintains a network of snowmobile trails in northeastern Ontario and connects them to trails in northwestern Quebec, making our district a great starting point for extended trips, or a great area for a short leisure ride. Important Info:
- Wear an approved snowmobile helmet
- Obey speed limits, and adjust your speed according to weather, and roadway and trail conditions
- Do not drive impaired
- Take extra precautions when driving on lakes and rivers. Wear a personal floatation device or floated snowmobile suit



Ski Hill:
Looking to hit the slopes? Take the T-bar to the top of the Larder Lake Ski Hill and enjoy the day on their six runs and snowboarding pipe. This hill can accommodate a wide range of skiers, making it the perfect hill for a family ski day! The chalet is the best place to warm up and grab a bite during or after a day on the slopes. Cross-Country Ski Trails:
Located behind the complex, Clancy’s Trails offers 11.7 kms of cross-country skiing trails through six different loops that are maintained throughout the season by a local group of volunteers. These trails can accommodate skate skiing in addition to groomed skiing tracks. Need cross-country ski equipment? The Joe Mavrinac Community Complex offers free rentals, on a first come, first serve basis. Junior and adult classic skis as well as adult skate skis are available (security deposit is required). They also offer cross-country ski lessons for beginners! For rentals or to book a lesson, call ahead at 705-567-5215.
The Englehart Nordic Ski Club maintains 12 kilometers of groomed cross-country/skate skiing trails, within the Kap Kig Iwan Provincial Park. A chalet is also available on the weekends from 11 am to 4pm for skiers to warm up! For information on trail conditions and usage fees, check out the Englehart Nordic Ski Club Facebook page.
Are you in need of cross-country ski rentals? The club has limited skis available to rent. Adult skis are available for a small fee and children ski rentals are free.

Snowshoeing Trails:
Although the park is not open during the winter months, there are many trails that can be taken from the highway to the remote lakes in the Park Extension.
Located behind the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex, Clancy’s trails provide 8 kilometers of snowshoe trails that are well maintained by a local group of volunteers. These trails are great for all levels of snowshoeing, making it the perfect family activity! Do you need snowshoes? The Joe Mavrinac Community Complex offers free snowshoe rentals (security deposit required).

The region boasts many bush roads, back-country trails, and lakes for a more challenging snowshoe. No matter what you choose, please snowshoe safely! Inform someone of where you are going and how long you intend to be. Please dress and equip yourselves appropriately.

Tobogganing is a perfect winter activity for families and children of all ages. Grab your toboggans and check out the following hills:

- Check the hill to make sure it is free of hazards
- Wear a helmet
- Ensure your route is clear before sliding
- Do not stand or lie head first.
- Kneel or sit on your toboggan.
