Ice Fishing
The area boasts numerous lakes ideal for ice fishing, both easily accessible and remote. Curling
The Kirkland Lake Curling Club welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels to curl in a fun and relaxed environment. Their facility offers six sheets of manufactured ice and a great full-licensed hall, perfect for a social pick-up game, league play, and bonspiels.

The three sheets of ice at the Floyd Hembruff Civic Center are used throughout the winter season for league play and bonspiels, for children, adults, and seniors. For more information and to join their upcoming FunSpiels, visit the Matheson Curling Club’s Facebook page.

Hockey
The Kirkland Lake Goldminers are a junior A hockey club in Kirkland Lake, who welcome many spectators for exciting games throughout their season. Find their next home game at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex here.
The Vern Miller Memorial Community Center in Matheson offers pick-up hockey for children aged 13 and under on Sundays from 6pm to 7pm, and on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm for individuals 14 and older.
The Englehart and Area Community Arena Complex offers Oldtimers (35+) pick-up hockey on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am. For other pick-up hockey opportunities, check out their facebook page.
Looking to play some hockey? The Kirkland Lake Complex has regular pick-up hockey every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30am to 1pm and senior pick-up hockey from 11:30pm to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both men and women, aged 14 years or older are welcome. Full hockey equipment is required for individuals under 18, and highly recommended for all participating.

Nothing screams Kirkland Lake quite like a game of hockey on the outdoor rink! Stop by Civic Park for a game of pick up hockey under the lights, during the following times:
Monday to Friday
- Youth Hockey: 4pm to 6pm
- Hockey: 8pm to 10pm
Weekends & School Breaks
- Youth Hockey: 2pm to 4pm
- Hockey: 8pm to 10pm
The Isabella Kasner Memorial Splash Pad & Larder Lake Ice Rink is an outdoor recreation facility that provides a great ice surface in the winter months for pick up hockey for all ages.

Are you in Matheson and looking to skate? Head over to the Vern Miller Memorial Community Center for public skating during the following days and time:
- Monday 12pm to 1pm –3:30pm to 5pm
- Tuesday 12pm to 1pm –3:30pm to 5pm
- Wednesday 3:30pm to 5pm
- Thursday 3:30pm to 5pm
- Saturday 6pm to 8pm
- Sunday 4pm to 6pm
The Englehart and Area Community Arena Complex offers public skating during the following days and times:
- Tuesday 9am to 10am
- Thursday 9am to 10am – 4:30pm to 5:30 pm
- Friday 4:30 pm to 5:30pm
- Saturday 5:30pm to 7pm
- Additional skating times are available during school breaks.
Head over to the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex for their weekly scheduled twoonie skates, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 pm to 2pm. Weekend skates are scheduled based on ice availability – call the Complex at 705-567-5215 to confirm the skate time for this weekend! Helmets are highly recommended.
